Come a little closer, dare to join the fight. Watch the acid burning, the devil's delight. --------------------------------------------------- The land was dark and cold in the dead of night. Shadows crept across the dry winter grass, stretching and shrinking into the void of the darkness. Rain fell steadily from the heavens, silver streaks plummeting to earth with the occasional roar of thunder and flash of lightning. As a lightning bolt shot to the ground, the land was illuminated and a small fiery bodice was revealed. The vix stood alone, her dark eyes gleaming with flame, their true color unseen. Her pelt was stained a deep, impenetrable gold with flames dashing it's solid dye. Flaxen tassels cascaded from her neck like liquid gold, and the banners which waved as her train were of evanescent quality of a silver waterfall. When the flash of lightning vanished, her golden pelt glowed into the night like a star. It was true, even she would admit it willingly, she was strikingly picturesque. Beautiful, putting it simply. My agony forever lasts Eternity's hell if holding fast. ---------------------------------- But truly, she was far from beautiful. At closer glance, her figurine was riddled with scars and stains. Her eyes were clouded by a permanent haze of anguish. Those who dared cross her path were assailed by the same unspeakable horrors which had destroyed the fae, because she had hoarded them and hid them away in the deepest reaches of her heart, guarding her hatred with her all. But while they were buried, the revulsions of her past, present, and future still assaulted the nymph regularly, tearing pieces from her already broken core, daggers tearing into her fiery casing and shattering her to pieces. She did not move, she did not think. She did not know why she was here, waiting in this hell of a land. Gone were the happy new couples of the early day, not that they made this fae any happier than she was now. Once upon a time, she had preferred this night to broad daylight... but now she knew of the unspeakable which happened in the dead of the night, the unspeakable which could destroy a doe forever. She knew and the knowledge haunted her, she knew what could happen and although she hid it well, fear ruled her life. Dare to cross her path and die Never again see blue sky. -----------------------------Haunted by knowledge, ruled by fear, eternally suffering, Venus lingered in an unspeakable purgatory between life and hell.

Numaric Light approached the mare carefully. She was a beautiful palomino, but when you looked closer she was covered in scars. Numaric Light cautiously asked How are you today? He didn't want this meeting to end like his last...

Golden vix turned haunted chasms towards the speaking stag and silently dissected him in her mind. His figurine was Arabian, much similar to Venus herself. He had a young look about him and was painted a silvery dapple gray. Under his appearance, Venus saw caution and hope, perhaps fear and perhaps sadness, perhaps even betrayal. It was hard to tell so soon, so she turned to his words as a window into his heart. They were a bit rash, a bit unusual. Most brutes said things like, Greetings m'lady. or shared their name. And despite his original greeting, he seemed just like the others. Just like all the others who had taken advantage of her and tortured her as if she could not feel pain, just like the others who took her for granted, just like the others who paid the consequences.
Her voice was cool and unintentionally seductive as she spoke, wondering why she wasted her time.
Same as usual, but I highly doubt you coming along will make it any better.

Sorry to have it like that. By the way I'm Numaric Light. May I ask for your name? He asked hopefull. He wanted this mare to trust him. She was seductive and illusive, also rash. Were they good qualities in a mare? Yes, of course. And they look good in this fae.

Sorry to have it like that? What the hell did that mean? Venus raised her brow quizzically, but like all her emotions, her confusion didn't show and it simply made her look more seductive. Dark, almost red-tinted orbs narrowed and she stomped her foot ever so slightly, feeling a pang of impatience. This stag seemed unusually thick-headed.
You may ask it.
She replied, her voice thick with contempt. How stupid did he get? Venus hated it when stallions got so mixed up in their big, polite words that they didn't even bother to say the right thing. But boy, did she have fun calling their bluffs.
He was just like all the others, there was no doubt about it now. Stupid and slow, he could never understand her pain much less feel it. Like all the other idiots before him, this stag would look at her like she was just any other mare, but one who possessed extreme beauty and was possibly -possibly- worthy of her sister. They would take advantage of her and tear her heart to pieces, and the worst part of it all? They wouldn't even notice the damage till it was far too late.

He smiled. Then what is it. It was more of a statement rather than a question. The mare was tricky, a fox, in more ways than one. Why didn't she trust him? He yearned for the answer.

The idiot. Was he so blunt, so unseeing, so blind as all the others? She had thought that maybe, for an instant, he might understand, but everything disapeared the instant he spoke. He could have asked how he could make it better. He could have played along, he could have understood. But it was useless now, and Venus's fiery hatred returned with more vigor than ever.
Why should I tell you, brute? You'd only abuse it, take advantage of me and destroy my life like everyone else. You're a waste of space and matter, did you know that? I bet no one's ever told you that before because they're afraid you wouldn't even understand them. And they're right, goddammit! You're an idiot, plain and simple. You wouldn't understand if I were bleeding on the ground in front of you.
Insults fell from her mouth like fiery hail, pain-filled and installing as much pain in him as life had installed in her, she rid herself of the pain the only way she knew... and even now, she wasn't so sure it even worked.
You probably want up and leave, but then I'd call you a coward, wouldn't I? Of course if you stay you run the risk of more insults... it's a choice you have to make, colt. Afraid of making it? Want me to make it for you? Sorry, but I really don't think you would like that. If it was up to me, I'd tell you to go kill yourself, that's all your worth.
An eternal fire burned in Venus's heart, ruthlessly destroying all in it's path just like Venus herself. And now, there was nothing to make this stallion any different from everything she had destroyed so effortlessly and everything else which had destroyed her with the same ease and comfort...

He stepped back a bit at her insults. He risked a small smile and said Miss, I am not here to hurt you. he started. I want to help you. I know that you think I am worthless, but I don't think that you are. He looked at her with sincerity in his eyes. Would she understand? Pain was reflected in her eyes and he realized that she was only vicious because of the pain inside. He wanted her to trust him. He wanted to be friends at least, possible more, if she asked. He shook his head, I doubt it, he told himself, not with the attitude that she hs. There's no way that she'd accept me. I'll have to keep trying...

The fire in her eyes eased for a split second at his words. Was it even possible... could anyone understand? He might not understand, but he had a lot more determination that the rest of the idiots who'd pretended to understand her. But.. who was he? She realized that she didn't even know his name. Looking towards him, her eyes narrowed but some of the fire was gone as she spoke, her voice cool and controlled.
Tell me your name and maybe I'll listen.

He risked a smile. With pleasure. My name is Numaric Light. He said, not bothering to ask her name because of her reation. He would wait until she chose to. The world was coming together now. It was slowly becoming good. He was glad. Nowlets get back to this mare...

With pleasure. Ha. More like he'd force her with pleasure. Venus smirked, her shield sparking back to life. But how could telling her name hurt? After all, she'd learned to fight, learned to run... and there were certainly mares in the claiming grounds who would stand up for her...
Venus.
Her voice was sharp and cold, almost uncaring, but if you listened you could hear something else in there... a little window of sorts into her soul, if you listened.

Venus The word- just one word- made his heart flutter. Venus was the Roman god for Beauty. She was beautiful, very, very beautiful. He dipped his head. Well, Goddess of beauty- Venus, what a suiting name. He deeply admired her name which suited her so perfectly. She was beautiful in every aspect, her alluring brown eyes, her palomino coat, her charming voice, and her sassy attitude. She was perfect. He didn't want to harm her, in fact he wanted the complete opposite. He wanted... No. It was too soon to even think about. Way way too soon.

Goddess of love, smart one, but if you think I'll be giving an of that out soon you've got your head screwed on wrong. And I'll thank you not to objectify my looks, that's been done enough already.
Her words were snappy and cold, defensive almost. It was obvious now that he only cared about her looks and he was a complete and utter waste of time. But something made her stay... no matter how much she wanted to leave this stag alone in the dust to cry over all his lost mares.
She smirked and turned away, sick of his fake smile, his trying to find his way into her heart. But at least he cares. said a small, quiet voice from within her. Yeah, cares like nuts. You can at least give him a chance, said the voice, defensive now, holding back tears. Shut up. What has listening to you got me? Hell, that's what. Hell and agony and a wasted life so shut your freakin trap for god's sake. Fuming now, fire burned in her dark brown optics and Venus raised her crown proudly. This idiot brute wasn't getting anywhere with her if she could help it.

OOC: KK, just fustrated, hasn't been able to get a mare. Don't think of pitying me though!
BIC: Numaric Light looked after the mare. He shook his head and decided to try just once more. I thought she was both, Goddess of Love and Beauty. Don't blame me for my stupidity, or wait, DO blame me for my stupidity. His eyes looked sorrowfully after her and he turned away. He didn't leave, not yet.

OOC: lol. Just a tip- if you made longer posts, like 100 words it might help him to get a mare. Worked for me.
Ah yes, she saw his problem now This stallion wasn't determined and his ego wasn't as small as he made it out to be. He was just plain desperate. And there was nothing Venus hated more than a desperate brute- because then they would go to all measures to get what they wanted, even raping or killing. She was pretty sure this one wasn't going to kill her, but sometimes you could never tell... a sneer made it's way onto her pale maw as she responded in an icy, smarter-than-thou snarl.
I don't even want to know where your ego went. Or maybe,
Her smirk grew and Venus's words were lighthearted but dripping with mockery and hatred.
Maybe you're just desperate.
She spat the last word in his face, dark orbs glinting with some disguised emotion which only those who truly cared would see. And then it hit her- a test. She knew a test for this little Einstein, a test which would discover whether or not he truly cared... and the maybe they could talk.
All right genius. It's obvious that you're desperate to get me to join your herd. Don't say otherwise it'll just piss me off and you don't want to see me pissed off. Anyway, I obviously think you're a pretty big loser currently, but there's a way to change that.
She paused, dark eyes gleaming, letting the heartless lexis sink in, waiting for his expression to change, waiting for the insults which had rained down upon her to be rained down upon someone else for once.
I've been through hell and back, and don't think this place is much better. I won't waste our time talking about it, but there's something that I need to keep on living. Find it for me and maybe you'll have a chance.
Oh, he didn't have a chance she knew it already. Her words were a riddle of sorts, and if he solved it even slightly incorrectly he was rejected. Off she went to some other stag or maybe she would just leave this land altogether... hadn't brought her much so far, just the blubbering, desperate little colt. In fact... she'd forgotten his name, was it... Light, something about Light... oh screw it what did it matter anyway? This stag was just as much as an not a very nice person as the rest and she highly doubted what he said next would change that.

He glanced up and her words desprate Was he? The answer was yes. He was. You got me. I am desperate, I'm not afraid to say that I am. he heard her last words echo in his beaten brain there's something that I need to keep on living. Find it for me and maybe you'll have a chance. He pondered over that very sentance. Sweetly he said What, do you need? He ached to know, he just wanted to help.

Venus snorted. She had never met such an utter and complete idiot! Not to mention suck-up, desperate... oh, there were millions of insults she could throw at this stag and they still wouldn't be enough. So... why didn't she leave? After all, what kind of freak admitted that he was desperate, and when asked if he could do something for a mare he was desperate to get he asked how to do it? She'd met some pretty heartless brutes in her time, but she'd never met one quite as thick-skulled as this one. With a bitter sneer, she replied in icy, dark lexis. You are desperate, aren't you? And you aren't too smart either. I guess I should also say that you've failed my little test and no matter how desperate you are to build up your herd and be strong and powerful, I won't go with you. Because I'll only help stallions I love, or at least get along with, and you are definetly not one of them.
Oh, she knew it was cruel, she knew it was heartless, she knew it likely shatter him, but who the hell cared? It wasn't like she hadn't been shattered a thousandfold times, it wasn't as if these insults were anything worse than what Venus had suffered. In fact, she felt that in a way, he deserved it. But does he? That annoying little voice was back. He's stayed, hasn't he? He hasn't raped you yet, hasn't thrown a single insult. What he has done is be a total idiot. Can you honestly imagine spending your life with him? He's an idiot, that's what, and just cause he hasn't hurt you yet doesn't mean he's not an a**h***. But please... can't you just give him a chance?
Venus had just given him a chance and look what he had done with it. He probably couldn't even tell left from right. There were no more chances left for this one, he's ruined all of them. She was leaving... that was the final straw. But where would she go? Anywhere away from him. Maybe she would wander terra through terra until she found a suitable stag.. but no, they could hurt her there, because that was their territory and they had dibs there. She could just go to a different part of the claiming lands and hope he didn't find her... sadly enough that was probably what she'd end up doing. A bitter smile crossed her maw and she cast her dark optics to the ground for a moment, before raising a proud tiara and glaring at the stag.
I'll be going now, before I waste more time talking to you, unless you can stop me which I wouldn't bet on. I suggest if you're so desperate to build up your herd, you go look for amoebas or worms so that at least you'll have the same level of intelligence.
