Zodiac had lowered his head slightly more to her level as he listened, she opened up and it seemed to catch even her off guard but Zodiac wouldn't take advantage of it for this is what he wanted. He listened as she spoke about the herds and how they acted different then the ones here and how they chose thier leaders. Zodaic listened as Ariela went on about Oasis and Selena and though it had never happened to him he found it almost amazing that she was opening up to him after what she had been through. And as she seemed to come to an end Zodiac was about to speak and then her gaze moved to the ground and soon she shared more.
The black stag tucked in his dial slightly as he continued listening to the mares past love. Though it seemed more as if the stallion had played with her heart. He wanted to comfort her but Zodiac held himself back he wasn't sure how Ariela would handle him if he tried to show pity for it made most mares furious. He held his ground and let her finish and then he opened up his own maw and let out a few words. Thank you for sharing your past with me Ariela, its not an easy thing for mares to do sometimes and with everything you have gone through I wouldn't have blamed you for wanting to keep it to yourself. The black stag wasn't sure what he could say without making her mad at him, he wanted to help her and make her feel better but he couldn't share a sad story for his life seemed to have nothing really horrible in it. As for Barley, I don't think he realizes what he lost. Yes he already loved a mare named Lace, he shared a bond with her and that would never change but Zodiac has a large heart and would honestly make room for Ariela if things went that far but for now, he just wanted to get to know her better. Well, as for my past. I was born and raised here in the Arrowheads at Thundering Ridge. My mother, Death's Angel, raised me and I never saw much of my father but I got all the affection and help I needed from Angel. After that I went to the bachalor lands and then claimed the Hidden Falls and thats about it. I try not to open my heart to all mares, I actually get annoyed with mares that prance around a stallion like a filly normally does, I look for self control. Zodiac wasn't the kind of stallion that pranced around mares or went up to every mare in sight to get the largest herd in the arrowheads. He didn't care about numbers but he wants to give his heart to all that he invites and wants that respect back if possible.

Ariela felt tear last tear slide from her cheek. But as she listened to his words, she suddenly froze. ... I don't think he realizes what he's lost... What did that mean? Could it mean that... he loved her? Liked her, even? Bewildered, she tried to keep her composure straight as he continued speaking. Her dark orbs brightened to their shining sea-green.
Such and easy past, so simple and short and painless. How could anyone's life be like that? As for what kind of mares he liked, why was he telling her that? She couldn't stand the thought that he might be comparing her. And he liked mares with self-control... well, Ariela thought with a smirk, I may be shy, but I usually don't have much self-control.
But at least she knew that he didn't go around trying to get any mare who walked his way, he had standards and wasn't a greedy, power hungry a**h*** like a lot of stallions.
(Gah, no muse, i just got up XP)

The black stallion stood kinda silently for a moment, the suns rays beating down upon his black pelt which made the day seem even hotter then usual. But it reminded him that spring was here and soon he would see his first foal from his love. Birds chirpped in the trees that surrounded them and rabbits hopped around in the meadow of which they stood. Zodiac's ear flicked as he heard a sound from the trees, turning his head to see a doe bringing her small fawn out of the safety of the trees so she could graze upon the green grass. Zodiac only looked for a second and then turned his orbs back upon Ariela but still letting his ears flicker to catch any sounds that could cause a threat.
Zodiac coult tell that Ariela was beginning to open up and he found truth in her words, though at times she had sounded hesitent about her telling parts of her past. Now he was left to wonder what else there was to talk about. He didn't like talking about himself for he wasn't self centered about himself. He actually looked down upon himself knowing who his grandfather was and how Zodiac wasn't as big, nor did he have the painted pelt but looked like an exact version of his mother just a little shorter. And yet he was still larger then the everyday horse. I have never been very good at conversations, I grew up with just my mother around and she was not very social either. Zodiac was never really good with words but was trying to learn. So far he was doing alright, he thought but still he was very quiet. His tail swished at his sides to swat at the flies that landed upon his pelt. He likes the warmer seasons but winter always got rid of the annoying insects. You have some very beautiful sea-green eyes Arieal. Do you pass through your family or are they just unique to you?
((I know, I have no muse either...hmm))

Ariela felt the blood rush to her face. You idiot she told herself, Now he knows you're embarrassed!. But despite the terrible urge to look down at the ground, a smile crept onto her maw. She felt a swelling in her heart- she'd never been given a true, honest compliment about her looks before.
Th- thank you, Zodiac. Nobody's ever given me such a kind compliment before.
She smiled and the complimented sea-green returned to her orbs, brightening them. Her voice rose from it's previous whisper to a normal tone, confidence slowly creeping back into her lyrics.
Both my father and I have eyes that change from brown to green.
A warm spring breeze drifted through the air, causing the silky and easily tangled midnight tassels to billow in the wind and swirl around the fae's face. She had always loved spring- something about the newness, the freshness, the new start of spring. Flowers had begun to peek up from the ravaged grass of winter and the snow was nearly gone- only small, melting patches of icy white remained, dotting the ground with silver. A fly landed on her flank and she flinched, brushing it away with her tail. One thing about spring and summer- there were more and more bugs.

The black stallion stood like normal, his tail moving side to side as flies tried to land upon his ebony coat. A smirk crossed his maw, he had ment to comment on her eyes earlier as he had seen them change but hadn't gotten to it. I have never seen any others eyes change like yours. Green was a unique color indeed and it made her different from others in a way. But so did her personality, she was trying to hide at first but Zodiac felt like Ariela was begining to open up and maybe even start to trust him a little. She was kind from what he could see and he could see that they could get along so far. The land that you come from, what was it like? It was a simple conversation starter, he wanted to see if he could put her at ease some more and maybe get an idea if she comes from a plains, mountain, ect kind of herd. They all lived differently to survive and some had it a little easier then others.

Ariela smiled shyly. It was true, her eyes were unique and they were one of the few things she truly liked about herself, but a lot of horses thought that changing eyes were weird so Ariela tried to hide them. The optics in question turned bright green as she looked up into the sunlight and into Zodiac's orbs.
Lets see... it was forested, very green and bright and beautiful, but it rained a lot, that was the only thing I didn't like. There were a few big, snowy mountains but we didn't live there, it was too dangerous. We lived in the plains. There were plenty of trees and plants there though, and some rolling hills. It was beautiful... but I like it here too.
She smiled, remembering the brightness and the shocking greenery of her old home.
Have you lived in the arrowheads all your life?
As Ariela spoke to Zodiac, she realized that she was becoming more and more comfortable with him. In fact, she liked him a bit, he really seemed to care about her, if no one else did...

Zodiac listened to Ariela speek about her past home, it sounded beautiful with a bit of everything in it. The arrowheads had alot as well, mountains, lakes, forests, and even desert. And he was lucky enough to have the forested part that contained some beautiful waterfalls that seemed to almost seemed enchanting some nights. Then she asked a question and he didn't even have to think about it for he has never lived any where else. Yes I have. I was raised at Thundering Ridge until I turned two years old then I went to the prairie when I was a bachalor then I claimed my own home at Hidden Falls. Perhaps he should have ventured out of the arrowheads for a year or two just to explore but he liked it here. This was where he was born and he wouldn't leave for now he had a family and others to care for and protect.

Ariela tried to envision the places he spoke of, and she smiled when he spoke of Hidden Falls. The name had a magical sort of ring to it and she'd always loved waterfalls. Maybe the waterfalls flowed into ponds where the horses drank out of, maybe there was a rare mineral in the water... There you go, daydreaming again. she caught herself, annoyed at her own habits.
And then she realized that when Zodiac had mentioned Hidden Falls earlier she hadn't been quite so awed. What had happened? Sea green orbs widened as they looked into dark brown pools, There was something about Zodiac... she felt right with him, somehow. He was the only one who she could really talk to, about, well, anything, and he really seemed to care. He was nothing like Barley, but look what had happened with Barley? Maybe someone as different from Barley as Zodiac was would be what she was really looking for.

Zodiac noticed as Ariela went silent, she seemed to be caught up in her thoughts and he took it as a good thing for her face still seemed happy. He gazed into her deep green pools and they seemed to change from different color greens. It was fasinating to him whne others would turn away for it really wasn't normal. Once again he found himself staring into her eyes and so he turned his gaze away slightly. How long have you been away from your home? He finally spoke again, braking the silence that had fallen. A simple question to talk once again but to also try and figure out how long she has been alone.

Not very long... a few weeks, perhaps. I've been looked for a home but none have been right yet...
Ariela's voice was soft and gentle, blending with the wind. She look4ed into Zodiac's deep orbs and felt something right, felt something click within her. He was perfect, he cared... but did he really care, or did he just act this way to everyone? Did he really like her, or did he just think of her as just another mare to build up his herd? He probably already had a few mares, maybe even some foals.

Auds rotating, picking up sounds of birds in the nearby trees, orbs glancing around though not really focasing on aything for he had run out of things to talk about yet again. Before he could have turned around and left but now he had gotten to know her somewhat and he liked Ariela. He wanted to show her a better life then what she had but wasn't sure if he was going to be the one to do that. At first she had been hesitant but now she was opening up and he was starting to care about her. Would Ariela get along with his other two mares though for he couldn't and wouldn't force them to stay in the same terra if they couldn't get along. He was out of words and a long silence seemed to come between them again.

There was a long silence, but unlike before, this silence wasn't awkward. It felt, somehow, right, as if it were meant to be there. A smile found it's way onto Ariela's maw. Did Zodiac really, truly care about her? Was he just another fake, like Barley or did he really love her? She wasn't quite sure yet, if she loved him or not... it was true that she felt somehow right around him, but was that the same as love? Questions stampeded through her mind... why did love have to be so d**n confusing?
Just as Ariela was getting lost in her thoughts, a small gold and black butterfly flitted by, the patterns on it's wings illuminated by the sunlight. The chocolate femme smiled again, her lanterns glinting sea-green. She watched, rapt, as the butterfly flitted through the air, dancing in circles as if it were following some intricate pattern and she wondered if it was. If it wasn't just playing, if it had some dance which only it knew that it performed for the world.
Pretty, isn't it?
She spoke softly, lyrics blending with the gentle whistling of the wind and dancing upwards the greet the object of her awe. It was true, it was just a butterfly, an everyday occurrence, but something about this one was special somehow... if she could only put her finger on how.
