xxc u r s e d // you have no i d e a what it's like to be c u r s e d x x
She was a tall, elegant fae with sparkling brown eyes. Her long, graceful legs danced across the lands, her snow-white tresses danced in the wind like banners of beauty. But was she beautiful?
If you asked her, she would say no. Never. Perhaps I used to be beautiful, she would say, but now, I am as beautiful as a rotting corpse. Even if you told her she was beautiful... she would never believe you. Because for her, there was nothing left.
She moved into the empty, barren lands of claiming with her eyes downcast, and her heart matching her pelt- gray. Gray because nothing mattered anymore. She didn't know why she had come here; was it perhaps to find love? No, she could never love another, not after what befell her when she tried. Maybe it was because she just didn't know where else to go. But that was unlikely. She'd been perfectly happy- or at least as happy as one so melancholy as her could be- in that god-forsaken forest she'd been staying in...
So why had she come? Irritated, she banished the thought from her mind. She didn't know or care why she'd come. She'd come because it was a place to stay. They could think she came for love if they wished, but she would never love them. She could try, but she never really could. Because, as she now realized, she wasn't meant to love. How could one so cursed as her be meant to love?

Faded Illusion trotted into the Claiming lands. He pushed back the sadness of the memories the place gave him. Memories he did not recognize, that he did not know. He had no past, no memories other then those few of somber delicacy.
Suddenly he caught sight of a lone mare. separated from the others. His curiosity forced him towards the mare. As he approached he noticed the queer beauty of her coat. But it was not the beauty that struck him, it was the sadness. At one time she must have been dazzling, but her beauty must have been shrouded by dark memories. What sad deed could've put such a blur over her? he thought deeply. Whatever it is I can see that it would not be wise to ask. All it will bring her I am sure will be tearful memories. I know that from my own account. He continued towards the mare
Once he reached her he paused before speaking. M'lady? are you quite alright? He noticed how her eyes sparkled a beautiful lively brown. But as he looked closer he noticed a dull blur and felt a pang of sympathy for the mare. She seems very alike to what I was at one point in My life. It was right after... I can't seem to rightly recall.. All I remember is feeling as if the world was horrid, and I was nothing... Like I was not meant to be anything but a target for somberness... My life was meaningless... and still I feel that way at times, but not nearly as much as before. I hope this mare does not feel as bad as I did. For she is so obviously destined for amazing things, If only her eyes were opened. Although, My eyes are still faded and my heart is still... maybe I will never recover...maybe she will always stay sad...maybe even sadder then myself.... I dearly hope not, for it is quite a horrid life to live at times... I am Faded Illusion, It matters not to me whether you tell me what it is that is bothering you, Only that you may tell me your calling. Faded Illusion waited to see if she would respond. It won't hurt me if she doesn't answer, I felt no need to converse when I was in such a state. he thought surely. he stomped his hoof patiently waiting.

xxc u r s e d// In a w o r l d such as this, w h a t does it m a t t e r x x
It matters not to me whether you tell me what it is that is bothering you. she gave a short, cold little laugh at his words. It matters not. Yes, that, at the very least was true. Very true. Nothing mattered anymore... nothing. Not even Desire... her beloved Desire. As soon as tears sprung to her eyes at the memory of her friend, she banished the thought. She wasn't here to find Desire. Desire had a life of her own to live... Desire'd probably found some dark stag who her old friend would hate.
She grimaced and turned her thoughts to the stag. He wasn't bad looking, but she had learned from experience that looks were far from everything. More, they were a distraction. He was polite, at the very least, but it didn't matter to him what her problem was. In her opinion, he shouldn't even be asking. She snorted. Not like he would get a response.
But he asked for her name... her name. Did names even matter, in such a world as this? They mattered to Dark Desire yes, Desire even gave her friend a name that seemed to befit her better after the tragedy. But... did names matter to her? No. Names didn't matter, she decided. Not much.
What does it matter what my name is?
She turned to him, her normally cold and unfeeling eyes blazing with bitterness.
What does it matter what you call me? The question is m'lord, will I answer?

Faded Illusion was not taken aback at the least bit. Actually he had expected the answer she had given. But he had seen what he had been looking for. she had hesitated. She was not completely lost.
Hmm, your question has meaning to it I realize M'lady Faded Illusion gave a slight grin as he said And you almost had me stuck but I have come up with a meager but still reasonable answer. He bobbed his head which pushed away his forlock to reveal piercing blue orbs as he said Which is simply that names are but a calling for one so that another does not come up with such a personal calling for the one which must be addressed as so to be a calling that does not appeal to the one who is being called. Faded Illusion gave a silent laugh to himself acknowledging the confusing situation. As much as the mare may try her mood would not spread to him. In other words if you decide that you feel no need to tell me your name, I shall simply come up with one to call you. I speak with all due respect M'lady

With a roll of her eyes, she turned to examine him. That was her point though, wasn't it? He could call her what he wished, but she might not answer. He could call her 'brute' for god's sake, but she wouldn't answer. She didn't tell him this. He could find out for himself. After all, he was being incredibly annoying.
She didn't want him comfort, she didn't want him making up names for her. But above all, she didn't want to care. Because if she cared, she would have so much more to lose. And so she couldn't let him make her care.
Try as she might she could not banish him from her thoughts, nor completely ignore him. She turned away, so she wouldn't have to gaze into those bright blue orbs that could tempt her just the way Ice's had. She didn't trust stags anymore- no- that wasn't right- she just... didn't care anymore.

As I lay to sleep I can close my eyes, Love is here, I don't know why, I can rest knowing that, She will be close and safe, at heart.
The stallion was gleaming black and dynamic movement and sliding, shining muscles. He was flowing mane and flying tail, racing against the wind. He was vividly aware of the warm sun above, and cool grass beneath his hooves; of the backround murmer of running water; of bircall, and a stunning grey mare, sleeking through the shivering stems. He was concious of an intense joy in living, of power, and of pride that arched his neck. His orbs observed the world around him, and his constant flickering sensitive ears moved as a sudden gust groaned among the branches. Long strided canter never stopped until he was before the mare. He bowed slightly, then spoke, Hello m'lady. My name is Thunder, may I have the pleasure of knowing yours? She seemed different, afraid, worried, call it what you will. Her eyes sparked though Thunder could tell it was not by will, something hid in those enchanting depths. She was already speekign to another stallion. Something withen her, he realised, was hidden, something she had locked away, now she just didn't care. If only he could bring out her emotions and make her life worth living, for what was the use of living if you had nothing to live for?
I found what love is, I found who love will be, All there is to do is this, Wait and be what love forsees.
(Some of this is from the book Zara, by Joyce Stranger, modified though.)

very well then Faded Illusion nodded as he said it. I shall call you Dimmed Reflection. because of how somberly your view and future has been dimmed and because of how you have been forced to reflect your thoughts and memories throughout your life. He nodded to himself, yes Dimmed reflection would do.
Suddenly, Faded Illusion thought of pushing his luck and seeing how far she was lost to herself. He said softly, but surely You do care. You may deny it as much as you wish but the more you do, the more my point is shown. You try hard not to care, but it just makes you care even more. The more you hurt the more you care. You don't want to lose something again, so you pretend not to even care. but that is what creates the feeling. Since the horrid time you have experienced you have lost hope in yourself. you have lost trust, love, kindness. this is what you have convinced yourself of. but really it is just hidden deep in you. You may try to wretch it out, or simply ignore it. But it is always there, burning inside of you. like a candle on the water. he bobbed his head to move his forelock away from his blue orbs. I know what you are thinking. His words mean nothing to me, you may think, but that only shows that I am correct. Whatever has happened in your past does not penatrate your future. Trust me, It took me of what seemed like forever to come out of the darkness. But you are not stuck in so far. there is a light, dim but still glowing, inside of you. It calls to you, it wants to show you the way out of your nightmare, But you try to ignore it. As hard as you may try, it will always be with you. remember that. You Care. he watched patiantly for her response.

Thunder nodded slowly to the other stallions words, he spoke of wisdom far beyonf his age, yes, a suitable stallion he would be for this mare of broken history. The name that he spoke that she should be called, seeing as she would not reveal her own was perfect. It wasn't harsh, nor beautiful but it was her. He turned back to the other stags last words, He is quite right, no matter what you do, what you say or how you act, you will always care. You can't push it away, no matter how hard you try. I should know of such. He remembered when his herd had been slaughtered, he had tried to push all emotions away, swearing never to love again for anyone or thing, but it did not last.

xxcursed // my m e m o r i e s make me h a t e you xx
With widened eyes, the mare stared at the first stag, the words of the second one flying in one ear and out the other. He didn't matter... but the first one, Faded Illusion, was it? He had spoken her heart. How had he known? How could he know? She didn't think falling in love could happen so quickly. And then it hit her. Ice cold, like a blunt knife across her heart. She remembered.
'M'lady, I know you want to be free. I know you only want love, and I want the same. And, as a strange as it may sound... I love you' Angel watched the dappled stallions with enchanted blue eyes. That was exactly what she wanted. How could he know her heart so well? It could only meant they were meant for each other.
As she thought of Ice's enticing words, she turned away angrily. He didn't love her, he didn't care, no brute did. He would make her trust him, say he knew her heart, and then he would abuse her. Torture her. Kill her foal. All stallions were the same, she should know. And she would never go with him. Or the other one, whatever his name was. They were evil, the lot of them. Every single one.
You will not call me Dimed Reflection.

Faded Illusion was not surprized. dimmed reflection had not closed a door for him, no she had infact opened one wide and clear. He turned his piercing blue orbs to her as he said Ahh, why do you say that reflection? For only a moment ago t'was you who were stating that names did not matter, and I could call you anything in the world and you would not care. why does it strike you so? What about the name caught you off balance, for it is a well fit name, and somehow it just abled you to use your own words against yourself? He stomped his hoof patiantly waiting to see if she would answer. Faded Illusion was amazed at how alike they seemed to be...for a moment before she had spoken he had seen her lost in thought, then her motives changed and her muscles went stiff in an angry way. she had most definently had a flashback of a stallion she had once known, but faded illusion knew that reflection did not need comfort now at all, for it would only assure her that he am alike to the stag she had once known....His piercing blue orbs seemed to see directly inside of her, as he watched her every move for a message..

xxc u r s e d //w h a t is a n a m e really w o r t h x x
She turned to him, dark eyes burning with anger and frustration. Was he trying to annoy her? Was he trying to make her mad? Because if he was trying to say, comfort her, it wasn't working. And he still called her Reflection. Reflection. It wasn't a great name, really. In fact, she herself thought it a bit of a cliche. With a smirk, she made a firm descision to ignore him until he called her a name worth answering to.
With a pang, she remembered Desire. How Desire had given a name to every poor, tortured mare Ice had captured and it had fit like a glove. Especially the one she had given her best friend... the mare who she treated like a daughter... Cursed Angel. Desire had been so kind to her- so kind! She realized that now that she was here, where her friend had come, she would have to find Desire sometime. She just didn't know if she could face it.

He could see that until she got her way she would not answer him. Though, if he dug deep enough in her he could probably get her to listen. He dropped all looks of authority as he said softly If you do not like the name Dimmed Reflection then why not give me a name you do like, I will not call you something if it bother's you but before it seemed as if you did not care at all what you would be called. he brought his gaze to hers as he continued, softly, gently, but surely What is the name that makes your heart swell with rememberance. If Dimmed Reflection is not the name of your heart, then what is? He continued The light burning inside of you, what name does it call out? You are surely able to not respond, but think, that doesn't really work in your favor does it? If your goal is to get me stuck in thoughts of your own, it will not work. You must let go of hurtful memories of the past. the world is not a bad place. Not everyone is evil. He shook his head in confusion Considering the state i was in before coming back to life in myself comfort will not help you....But if that won't what will. You have delicate emotions. But you cannot let that stop you from living. You have a purpose on this earth as everyone else does. Your past has been cursed with somber, and evil terrors, but you mustn't let that triumph over you. the more you ingore life, the more you are losing. You are losing to evil, sadness, anger, all the horrible things of the world. Do not let them take over your heart. bad things do not curse us. Bad memories, do not mirage our reflections on water. True life is not a cloudless sky, but it is not a bottomless pit either. Let the Angel inside of you fly, do not penetrate it with the curses of bad memories, you must let them go. let them fly away. Burn them.....You are not weak. bitterness, anger, and refusal to live, is not strength. Live.... His blue orbs were filled with hope for her... Do not curse the Angel of your heart, soul, and future be captured by the tears of your life...You...You are like a Cursed Angel.....The Angel inside of you needs you....Do not curse her with poison. He looked back at her....maybe he had gotten carried away, but he could not help it, he did not want her to lead the same life he almost had lived...

She stared to him, her eyes welling up with tears. He had touched her heart... he truly had. Just like Desire, he had given her the name that fit. How had he known? There was but one explanation. He knew her heart. She knew, inexplicably that this was the final test. She knew, now that she was meant for him and he was meant for her. Ice did not pop into her mind, because she knew that this was different. He cared. Would Ice have worked so hard to win a mare so weak and a depressed as herself?
Illusion was right. She was Cursed- Cursed to misery but she could save herself. She just had to trust him- she knew it. Desire never would have done it, but that was Desire. Desire needed a tougher stallion, of that word fit. She could never be in her old friend's herd again, but that didn't matter, because now she had Faded Illusion. But there was one thing left to settle.
You haven't Faded.
She said quietly, looking up at the stag she loved with burning eyes. As she spoke again, her voice grew stronger.
You aren't Faded, and your name doesn't fit anymore. And if I get my wish... I won't be Cursed. So... if you will call me Angel, I will call you Illusion.

Faded Illusion looked down, he hoped he hadn't provoked the mare's anger, but a she looked up again he saw tears welling in her eyes and kindness rippled through her. I did it... he thought almost in a daze....I set her free... happiness vibrated through his every move. And then a quiet voice came through to him. He looked at her she had said "you haven't faded..."...she couldn't know...could she? but it became clear to him as she spoke the rest that she somehow did know...I will call you angel. But how....How did you know that all my life I wished that I wasn't faded but believed it to be true.....How did you know that my heart yearned to be faded no longer?.... His heart swelled with love for Angel...Cursed no longer.

To her, he was strong and bright and wonderful. He was everything but faded. She loved him. But still, one thing gnawed at her heart. She didn't know how to say it- she was only just coming out of her shell for the first time. But then, Angel realized that if the answer to the question she had to ask was yet, it didn't matter how she asked it. I love you, Illusion. Do... do you love me?ooc- sorry, no muse. been rping all day

I'm not faded... he thought caught deeply in happiness. he was awakened from his thoughts when he heard her say she loved him. His heart swelled as she asked him if he loved her back. He did love her. she had brought him out of a faded cloud he didn't know still existed upon him. His blue eyes sparkled with emotion as he said Yes, I do love you. More then anything in the world. then he asked the question he had wanted to ask from the beginning Angel, will you join me in my terra of the Magic Mountians? His heart beat loudly he loved her so much, and he couldn't bear it if for some reason she declined...

Of course.
She didn't even have to think. Of course she would join him; she loved him. She watched his anxious face and almost laughed, she was so happy. Instead, she walked over to him and nuzzled his neck gently. She would tell him about her past- she had to eventually. But now was too happy a moment to ruin with past tragedies. Perhaps when they were at their new home... she would consider it. But not now.
With a cry of joy, she kicked up her heels for the first time in years. Laughing, she nipped him playfully just as tears of joy began to stream from her eyes. On the way to her new home she would buck and run and play for all the times she was miserable- which would be a while. She would become the happy, bubbly young fae she was before she met Ice. She never was one to bounce back quickly- usually. Maybe it was something about Illusion that made her happier. One thing was for sure- she was in love.

He watched her and her mood spread. He joined in in her enthusiasm and he realized that he had not been this happy in a long time as well! Well lets go then! he said happily and he motioned for her as he galloped off with a chorus of playful kicks and bucks. Illusion felt more free and happier then he ever had as he went off to his terra with Angel...
