The black fae treacked through the grounds, early spring winds yanking at her mane. Darkness had long ago disended, but it troubled not the travellers. Travelling forever onward. Leaving behind everything. Nothing was worth bringing. Except the one thing that stumbled along at her side. She stopped to nuzzle the foal at her side who wickered back in reply. Then they were moving foward again, black pelts invisable in the night. As they moved on the fae looked back on her life. She hated what she had turned into. Hated the empty husk she had been before the torture that brought everything back in the form of a filly. Still she didn't trust, didn't care for, other horses other then her filly. She hated to think what she would become when her foal was old enough to leave her and seak out a life of her own. The scenery changed from empty barrens to a meadow. This would be the place to rest. She smelled the faint scent of other mares, and stallions. This was a claiming land. But she would stay here. Her foal needed a stallion, someone who her foal might grow to trust, someone to protect her foal better then she could. But then again there was always the worry of those who try to hurt them. To force them. Or kill them. She shook away such thoughts as they reached the shelter of a tree, whose leaves were just begining to appear. There she stood and watched her filly lay down with a sigh of relief. Go to sleep little one. She said reaching down to nuzzle her foal. An owl hooted in the distance. Mother, I'm afraid. The filly said quietly, shakily, her ears swivelling to pick up every sound in this new world that she had come to. The mare lay down beside her. Hush dear. I'm right here. Can you sing me a lullaby? If that shall help you sleep. Which shall I sing you? The one about the ponies. Isn't that what we are here to find? Other horses? The fillies guess was acuarate. The mare nodded and quietly began to sing. Hush a by, don't you cry. Go to sleepy little baby. When you wake, you shall find, all the pretty little ponies. Black and bay, dappled and grey. All the pretty little ponies. The fillies head dropped down and soon she was soundly asleep, but the mare stayed awake, looking out into the night.
* * *
I woke at dawns light and as I stood mother woke with a snap, getting to her feet. I watched her look out at the area, as if looking for something, watching, waiting, preparing. She was tense, but I was too excited. I was going to meet other horses. I trotted around my mother, never leaving her side. I looked the direction she looked, moved the direction she moved. I might of well have been her shadow. I looked like it too, unnoticable unless you were actually looking for me.

My mother looked out on the field and a sence of hoplessness reached her eyes. Did no one out there care? She must have been thinking. I looked back on what she had told me of her life. She had been alone. No one had cared. Her own parents left her. Me, I had no father, mother would not speak of him even. All I knew that she had never been wanted or cared about. I was lucky compared to her because I did have her to grow up with. I just had to wait and worry with her that everyone here would be like the land we had been in when I was born. I listened to her call out once, it was sad, almost all hope burnt from it. I stuck close to her side, invisable, yet there, looking out on the world, hoping that someone was there.

OOC: Silver Moon to the rescue, lol i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc188/completlydifferentHen/Silvermoon.jpgSilver Moon saw a lonley looking mare in the distance as he trotted into the Claiming Grounds. He thought he could make out a foal, too, but he didn't mind. He trotted over, in the shadows. Silent, silver, and hiding in the shadows. When he was close, he swished his tail in and out, and ebbed away from the shadowy trees. This was his signature greeting. He stopped six horse-lengths away, so he wouldn't startle the mare and foal. He'd heard her singing, and her voice was pretty. G'day. He bowed to the mare swiftly, and quickly righted himself again. I am the one called Silver Moon, and I'd love to know your name, Singing-Mare-With-Foal. He quietly awaited her reply, head held high, and his posture still dismissive. He was not aggressive, no. He was cool, calm, collected. Much like the moon. But he didn't mind occasionally goofing off, because everyone needs to have fun sometimes. His silvery pelt swirled around like mist, and his sapphire eyes glowed with warmth and hospitality. He had a few unnoticable scars on his hide from an unexpected fight for his terra. But he'd won, fair and square, so now he was seeking some mares to populate his terra, and hoped love and loyalty would be picked up along the way. In the quiet hours of the Silver night Rides a Moon hero, ready for fight

Zodiac trotted to the top of a hill as he left his terra once more seeking perhaps another mare to protect and care for. His black coat gleamed in the new morning rays and his orbs glanced over the land to only lay upon a mare and what seemed to be just her shadow but no it was but a black foal by her side. Zodiac trotted down the hill, his muscles rippling beneath his coat, which was beginning to shed out and was beginning to show the midnight black coat beneath. His head held high with his ears pricked and then he noticed a white stallion approch them. Zodiac slowed to a walk unsure if he should approch but finally decided to give them a chance.
Black tresses swayed upon his shoulder and his thick black tail barely touching the ground as it swayed with his movement. He kept his head not high or low but inbetween and stopped 3 horse lengths away from mare and foal. Greetings m'lady and foal. My calling is Zodiac, may I know yours? His voice was calm and gentle, and his gaze moved from mare to foal for he wished to catch both of their attention for he wished to not scare either. It was by chance that he was here for he should be back in his terra awaiting for his love to come home with his first foal. His heart still jumped at the thought, he wondered what it would be and what it would look like but for now Zodiac put his attention on the two before him and awaited their replies.

I his behind her as the two stallions came forward. I watched my mother instinctively, wondering what she may do. I watched her ears swivel foward to catch the two stags words, I thought the two seemed very proffesional myself. It's nice to meet you Silver Moon, Zodiac. I'm Lost Memory, or just Memory, and this- She looked down at me and I melted away from her side to allow them to see me a bit more clearly, -is New Moment. I caught the weary edge to her voice but other wise she spoke politely. But you can call me Moment. My lyrics came shyly and quietly, this was the first interaction I had ever had with another horse besides my mom, then again, I was only 2 days old. I looked up at her then the truth hit me. She wasn't here for herself, she probably was scared to death by the contact of other horses, she was here for me. I swished my fluffy little tail at the flies as they gathered around me, I wondered if they were always around. I thought about my mothers past for a second, and about how lucky I was to have her, and how she had not been in contact with other horses since she was a few weeks old. Now she had took a huge step just for me. I turned my head curiosly as something colorful flew past and began to hover over a flower. It had large wings with many different colors which still flapped every now and then even though it had landed. I watched it with only one ear to the conversation, trying to figure out what the creature was. I took a few steps towards it then stretched out my nose. All of a sudden it crawled onto my nose. I snorted and it flew off in a flury. I turned and galloped back to my mother and hid behind her, watching the colorful thing fly back onto the flower. (attack of the butterfly!)

The black stallion watched the little black filly, he caught their names but he still stayed quiet as she moved to look at the butterfly. He gave a gentle laugh as she snorted when it crawled upon her muzzle. But still she looked curious at it and so he spoke, to both of them. Nice to meet you both Memory and Moment. He then lowered his head more to the level of the filly and let gentle words come from his maw once more. Thats called a butterfly. He looked upon the black filly, knowing that soon his own would be home soon. But perhaps given the chance they could come with him. He wanted to get to know Memory more but he would be able to give Moment someone to play with perhaps. How old are you now Moment? He knew that a mares heart layed upon her foal when she had one so Zodiac decided to try and befriend the filly so that perhaps he could ease the mother a little and then get to know her as well.

I pricked my ears to his words, a butterfly huh? Butterflies are scary! I said and was about to go investigate the creature I now new as a butterfly when he spoke again. I'm two days old. I said proudly before adding, That's even more then I was yesterday! I exclaimed, happy that Zodiac seemed to be friendly. Then I noticed that mother still seemed wary and a little worried, watching Zodiac as he talked to me. I had no idea what she was so concerned about! How old are you? I asked in return, ears pricked, I wasn't paying much attention to Silver Moon right now, even though it wasn't exactly polite, but he wasn't interesting! He just stood there doing nothing so I didn't find anything much to focas on with my short attention span. Mother on the other hand was watching both of them at the same time, she seemed a tiny bit easier with Zodiac though because he was getting along with me, but really, what could they do to me? I listened for his reply while watching the butterfly closely.

Zodiac had caught her attention for now but with her being only two days old she was going to explore alot and he would let her do that. He gave a smirk as she held herself proud for being only two days old, but in the wild the first few hours are the hardest and it really was a good thing to make it to two days. I am five years old. He gave a short answer, he was a young stallion but already had his own terra, a mare, and soon a foal as well. He let Moment go back to investigating the butterfly and then his ears picked up a new sound. He turned his dial towards the sound of small hooves comming from the trees and a doe emerged to graze upon the grass. A fawn followed quickly behind her, probably only a few days old as well. Zodiac turned his head back and looked to Memory this time. She is a lovely filly Memory. She would grow to be strong and right now was the time when her personality showed for everyone to see. And she was without a horrible past to keep her wary of others, though Zodiac wasn't sure about Memory for she seemed very worried about the presence of the two stallions.

I listened to Zodiacs words, he seemed ancient to me, but he could tell I wanted to explore so I just let me eyes widen slightly at his age before going on a quest against the butterfly. I took a few steps again, extending my nose toward the enemy carefully, drawing back suddenly as it tried to flutter onto my nose again. I flicked an ear back to catch the conversation going on between mother and Zodiac.
* * *
Memory watched her foal and Zodiac converse. She smiled slightly as her foals eyes suddenly widened with shock at the age of him before going to investigate the butterfly again. A laugh was hard for her to come by these days, it was hard to get one out of her at all. Then Zodiac spoke to her and she looked at him, only watching her foal from the corner of her eye. I nodded at his statement, Yes, but sometimes I worry... Her lyrics came. But worry about what? Her safety, her well being, stallions, herds, everything. Not being in a herd for most of her life she had forgotten what it was like. She was unsure about it. And ever since being raped last year she was worried about stallions, having discovered the damages and joys they could bring. She had to be careful of them in order to protect her filly.

Zodiac's orbs watched the little black filly for a bit again and then turned back to Memory as she spoke. Her words soft and held her worry as well, he wondered what she had been through to be so shaken up. Worry about what? if I may ask. It was her choice, she could push it off and he would leave the subject alone or she could open up slightly and let him know a little on her mind. Zodiac wanted to help but he wasn't sure how, if he pushed to get to know her past he would only push her away and perhaps scare her even more. He wasn't an aggressive stallion but he wasn't a push over either.

She thought for a moment. What exactly did his question mean? Did he ask simply what she worried about, or her past? Or did he ask of both? She looked to her foal who was now pawing at the air right by the butterfly, Everything. She finally answered, then added, It is mostly because I didn't have a herd after a was a week old.... She wondered if she should continue, but at last she did. They abandoned me because humans were trying to catch us all. They thought I wouldn't be able to keep up with the herd if they had to run... She paused, remembering how scared and alone she felt when she woke up to see them all gone. Then she turned her head to look at him. For days I just wandered around that area, hoping they would return, but I saw no sign of them. At last I was forced to face the truth, that they were not coming back for me. I tried to find them, to convince them that I was strong enough to stay with them, but they were long gone. I did find one horse from my old herd though, but she had been shot down by the humans. She sighed quietly, the hardest for her to admit was yet to come. That was when I tried to abandon my feelings. I succeeded for a while. Until I got forcebred and had her. Then I realised that no matter what I did I would still have my feelings... Just sometimes I needed a little help finding them...

Zodiac watched the filly as well as listening to Memory and turning his head to look at her as well. He felt sorry for her but wouldn't show it to much, for most mares hated being pittied upon. I am sorry about your past, even if you were just a filly they should have tried to take you along with them no matter what. As for being forcebred, there isn't really anything good about it but if you hadn't been you wouldn't of had Moment and you wouldn't have found your feelings either. Zodiac was young and didn't really have experiance with anything such like Memory for he was born and raised in the arrowheads and had a basic life without any problems really.
Not long as the filly was pawing at the butterfly another one fluttered around this one a little smaller then the one she was after and it landed upon the fillies rump. Zodiac could see that the fillies mind was still on the first one so he decided to let her know about the new one. Moment, there is another one on your rump. His tone was sort of teasing for the very creature she was trying to scare away was now sitting upon her black pelt.

OOC:Umm.. I haven't been on for a while, have I? Silver Moon was never here-- OK? He's been long forgotten, so is going to try to find another mare. Silver Moon watched the two interact, and realized that they seemed fit for each other. Yes... And seeing that the filly and stallion are the same color, they will look like father and daughter to the prying eye. He dipped his head to the mare called Memory, and replied with a tint of sadness Well, you two are obviously getting along better then I would have wished. But that is simply fate, and so now I will dismiss myself. He nodded to each of them as he added Memory, Zodiac, Moment. Then he turned away from them and ran headlong away, into the shadows, where he was well concealed. He'd look for another mare that needed someone. Because this one already did have someone. Zodiac. Yes, he said to himself again. Yes, they are good for each other.And it takes a true hero to give up when it's not his time.

Memory nodded at Zodiacs words. I suppose that is true. She said and watched for Moments reaction to the beauterfly. Then her ears picked up Silver Moons words and she turned her head to face him, It was nice to meet you Silver Moon. She said with a nodd before looking back to her filly, wondering to herself all the while why Silver Moon didn't really try to get her attention.
* * *
At Zodiacs words I wheeled around, my fluffy tail not yet long enough to shew the thing away. Now I was wheeling around in tight little circles but it would not get off! I let out a buck and at last it came flying from my pelt it fluttered about me and I ran as fast as I could away from it but never running far from her. It followed me! Little did I know I had some pollen stuck to me so that was why they seemed to like me. I reared up suddenly and twisted around to gallop back to my mother, stumbling along the way so I fell and rolled. The pollen must have fallen off of me as the horrible butterfly did not follow me any long as I stood up. I didn't have to go far because as she saw me stumble she had swiftly came to me. Her head was level with mine, Are you alright? She asked, sounding concerned. Fine without that evil butterfly. I said with a snort. She chuckled sliughtly and nuzzled me.

Zodiac listened to Memory's words then watched Moment as she tried to get the butterfly off her ebony pelt. He couldn't help but smile as she bucked and finally the butterfly came off. But he gave a little gasp as Moment tumbled down to the ground, and he made his way over lowering his head but keeping his distance still as to not worry Memory more. His ears listened to the filly as she spoke and he couldn't help but give a little laugh. Butterflies won't hurt you Moment But he knew that she had a different opinion of them already and his words were not going to change her mind about them. He shook his forelock from his gentle orbs and raised his head once again.

I looked at him and thought for a minute, or a moment if you prefered. He was kind, and gentle, maybe what a father was supposed to be like-I'ld have to ask mother later- so I decided to believe him. Well, if you say so I suppose they can't be that bad. Was all I said then looked at mother. I realised she no longer had a wary edge to her around Zodiac. Suddenly I knew I wanted his home to be mine, no matter what. I trotted past mother, who raised her head to look after me, and right to Zodiac. Darn, this wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Zodiac! Can me and mommy come live with you? I just blurted out to get it over with. I looked back at mother. She looked a bit suprised at first and then came over...

The black stallion let a smirk fall upon his muzzle as the filly got up and took in his words. He watched as she trotted over to him, her mother watching her and Zodiac stayed still. Then the filly blurted out what was running through her mind and at first he was shocked but he didn't let it take over his features. He smirked and lowered his dial to the small filly and gave her a gentle nudge. But it was more Memory's decision and so he looked to the mare and asked. Would you like to join me at my terra? He already knew the fillies thoughts now he asked Memory.

Of course. She said, she had eased up quite a bit around him, but her next challenge was yet to come, his herd.
* * *
I was estatic! Mother said she would go and Zodiac(hopefully) didn't mind me suddenly blurting out the question. I started running around in circles and then slowed at my moms side, feeling a bit tired from all the running around and the not-so-bad butterfly.

Zodiac was happy but didn't let it show to much. He let a smile crawl across his maw and watched the filly as she ran around and he could see that she was getting tired so they should probably be on their way so she could rest. Alright, then follow me you two. With that he took the lead but still stayed close as he walked back up the hill from where he had come back towards his home at Hidden Falls.
