Rose moved into the land, she was scared it was her first time and she was alone. She had already begun to have slight contractions and she moved around pushing at the emerald blades of grass with her velvet muzzle but she wasn't hungry so she didn't bite any. Her body continued to push until hooves began to come out. She sighed as yet another contraction came and a nose was pushed out, now she layed down in the grass as the pushs began to get harder and she tried to take in breaths after each contraction. Finally the final push came and she pushed with all she could. She sighed this time with relief for now the foal was out and she got up and began to clean it and give it encouragment, but her heart fell. Her eyes watered and she wanted to jsut collapse for she had gone through the pain for nothing but a still born colt.
The mare tried more but it was no use and she pulled herself away sadly thinking about just running away for she had been looking forward to the foal. Soon contractions began again, she didnt' want to push for the thought of another dead foal. Twins ran in her blood for her mother had given birth to twins as well. Rose pushed though and layed down in a patch of clover. Her body was already drentched with sweat and she found it harder and harder to catch her breath. Finally the final push came and she pushed with all her might and thought she would pass out from the pain but she managed to rid herself of the foal and she got up on her shaky limbs and began cleaning the foal. Relieved it was all over this time she cleaned and nickered and this time got a nicker back in return and the filly began to struggle with her long legs.
Rose finished cleaning off the dun looking filly and stepped away and grazed while the young filly figured out how to use her limbs. After about 30 minutes though the filly was up, wobbly but up. And she found her mothers milk sack and nursed for the first time. Rose nuzzled her filly warmly. She thought about a name and thought about dawn, the fillies golden pelt similiar to the sun but she didn't like the name for the filly, what about Twilight? She thought, she liked the name but still not for the filly. Rose thought for a while and then said.
I am going to name you Aurora.
The filly looked up to Rose taking in her new name and then began walking around figuring out how to use her legs. Within no time Aurora was running around in the field bucking and kicking but Rose couldn't stop thinking about Aurora's brother, he would have been a bay colt but it was Rose's first time and Aurora had dominated making it hard for the colt to live. Instead of two foals she had one dead and one big and strong filly, built much like her father not showing much of her mothers arabian blood but Rose was proud of the filly and would soon be able to take the filly home to show her to Blaze.
