It was early in the morning, the sun beginning to rise into the blue sky that held very few clouds. It was still cool but the days were beginning to get warmer and with that came movement within the dun mares barrel. Montana moved threw the grass and into the trees. She walked around more as pacing as the contractions began. Montana pushed with each one that came and soon two legs began to show. Once the head was out Montana found a patch of soft clover and laid down as the contractions got harder and harder. It didn't take long though and the last hard contraction came, Montana pushe the foal out and then rose upon her legs and began to clean off her dark foal that layed upon the ground. The dark foal then began to move its legs around trying to figure it out and after about 30 minutes the foal was up on its feet nudging at Montana's side trying to find the milk.
Montana looked upon the grulla filly pleased with the strong little filly. Montana grazed as the filly suckled and then they laid down and rested for a while. Montana kept Caliana there in the meadow for a few weeks gaining a bond with her filly and letting her get stronger for the journey back home.
