Death's Keeper cantered into the valley, his large feathered hooves moved him with ease but still he came almost silently through the land until stopping to await his opponent. He had expected a larger stallion to fight to make it fairer but he wouldn't back away from the challenge now. His long silky banner hung down his neck, his forelock covering his dark orbs. He stood calm but his patients was growing thin, ever since he was taken from his home he had lost his patients to wait. His cool against other stallions was gone as well, he wouldn't back down from a fight and he really didn't care about anything any more. His vision was clouded and he reared upon hind legs and let out his call for the lead of the Flat Canyons knowing that he was well on his way already.
Renaissance cantered towards the Flat Canyons, his strides not as long as his challengers so he came in a bit behind. He was the size of a normal arabian, he was strong at heart but his challenger was twice as big and a blow from one of his hoofs could do alot of damage. He came upon his challenger and moved at a walk, his heart racing as he thought of how he could even put up a fight here. He stood face to face with the painted stallion and wanted to know the name of his challenger and so this is how it would start. I am Renaissance, what is your name challenger? Renaissance stood his ground, though not much compared to the other he still had pride. His sleek mane fell down his neck and his tail held high and it swayed with the light breeze.
The black and white painted stallion held his head high, with his neck bent showing his true beauty as a stallion. He looked much like that of the gypsy vanner breed but was actually a pure drum horse. Color showing that of gypsy and his size showing that of the percheron. I am Death's Keeper Introductions were over and Keeper stood waiting for the stallions move. He was the current lead so he left it to him, though he was not patient and so if not soon then Keeper would strike.

Renaissance's hooves shifted in the dirt, it was perfect. Not too soft but not to hard and he awaited his opponent, he was not going to make the first move with Keeper as his opponent.
Death's Keeper pawed the ground and flicked back his forelock to see through his orbs clearer. He reared slightly, his muscles rippled under his painted coat. He charged not making any other moves for he knew the arabian stallion would be quick to move. But he stopped almost instantly turning enough to through his hind legs out to the side and almost caught the chestnut in the head. But still he hadn't made contact, he then picked up a gallop pulling himself around and back infront of Renaissance. He reared putting the other stallion's attention on his front hooves and then with all his strength he twisted putting his front hooves on the ground and turning his hind end towards the arabian within seconds and throwing out his hind hooves.
Renaissance watched Keeper and his muscles tightened as he watched the painted stallion pick up his front feet and charge. But he was ready and when the stallion got close he jumped to the side with all his strength and then moved foreward but caught sight of back talons comming and slide to a hault keeping his dial low. The hooves came within inches of hitting his head, to close he thought. Renaissance watched Keeper with keen eyes, he backed up to avoid getting hit with the front hooves and wondered what would happen next. His muscles tensed up and he was ready to jump in any direction but the draft stallion moved with such speed that even the agile arabian didn't get completely out of the way in time. Renaissance avoided full impact of both hooves but one hoove hit slicing his shoulder as it seemed to slide across his coat. Blood rushed out the wound was deep and Renaissance took in a deep breath. His heart raced and he still moved fine for now but it would hurt when the day was over.
Renaissance had more stamina then this big stallion but couldn't run around and take hits like that all day. The golden chestnut stallion galloped up beside the painted stallion and latched his ivories into the stallion's shoulder tearing at his pelt until he tasted blood and then let go and turned his rump to the stallion and kicked out with both hooves, hoping to make some sort of contact.
Death's Keeper squinted slightly as Renaissance's teeth bared deep into his shoulder. He then reached over and bit down on the stallions neck until he let go. The chestnut stallion got away from his teeth and Keeper felt both talons hit his barrel. Keeper snorted, the stallion's blows didn't break anything but his sharp talons had put into his pelt and blood ran down his barrel. He pushed with all his might in his back hooves and moved before the stallion did anything else and then faced him. He wouldn't hit with the same moved but he charged and then reared but hit nothing but air. He returned to the ground and latched his teeth in Renaissance's shoulder pulling to tear the skin, already this shoulder was bleeding from before and then Death's keeper reared up again his hoove making contact this time.
Renaissace dodged Keeper's hooves when he reared but a slight scream ran out of his maw when the painted stag latched onto his already bleeding wound. Now the pain ran through his leg but he managed to take a deep breath and pick up his back hoof and kick at the stallion to let go, but Keeper had already let go and came upon hind legs again. Renaissance was hit on top of the head by one of the large hooves and he fell to his knees on the ground. The pain rushed through his whole body, was this it? Everything was blury and when he tried to stand he fell over on his side. He shook his head everything was spinning and he could see the figure of Death's Keeper. Blood fell from the wound on his head and things began to clear and Renaissance got back to his feet. Though he was still a little wobbly he managed to stand. He charged at the stallion but came to a hault in front of him and spun on his front hooves and kicked at the stallion with his hind hooves. He kicked nothing but air and Renaissance's heart lept for if he didn't hit the stallion, then where was he.
Death's Keeper watched the chestnut stallion as he stumbled after the blow. He stood his ground and waited to see if the stallion would still get up and fight or just give up. His shoulder and barrel stung as blood still flowed out of his opened wounds. A smirk came upon his maw as Renaissance came around and decided to continue the fight, but Keeper was ready and when the stallion tried to spin and kick him in the chest Keeper moved and threw his hind hooves at the chestnut's barrel.
Renaissance slid on his side on the hard ground. His side screamed at him and he knew atleast one rib was broken. He struggled to his feet but the pain in his barrel was unbareble. He would give it one last try and with his teeth bared Renaissance galloped to Keeper and reared up latching onto the stallion's throat and biting down.
Death's Keeper felt the stallions sharp ivories penatrate through his skin. Keeper came to his knees at the pain but he jumped back up and got the angle he needed and bit the other stallion on the neck, bitting down feeling blood come into his mouth. Keeper reared up forcing the other stallion to let go or get kicked in the chest with his massive hooves.
Renaissance felt the ivories in his neck and when Keeper reared he let go and backed off quickly not wanting another hit from the hooves. Renaissance fell to his knees, the fight was over. The pain in his side was so intense that he finally just laid down upon his side, his head thumping and blood rushed out of his wounds. He couldn't fight anymore and he now the painted stallion could finish him off or leave him, but the terra was now his.
Renaissance closed his eyes, he didn't want to see. He was young and in a few years perhaps he would be strong enough once again to try and fight for a terra of his own. And then maybe one day he could challenge Keeper for Stardust, his lovely Stardust. His orbs watered, he hoped that Keeper would be kind to Stardust but knew she would take it hard for he loved her and she loved him. He layed upon the cold ground at Keeper's mercy.
Death's Keeper watched as Renaissance just couldn't keep himself up anymore. He reared upon his hind legs and his vocals rang out his victory and then he landed. It was a good fight and then he cantered away to his new terra leaving the old lead in peace.
Renaissance heard the stallion's call of victory and then heard his hoof beats as he left towards the canyons. He raised his head, his orbs watered slightly as he thought of how he might never see his love again. He laid his head back down and rested for now he would return to the bachalor lands until he was fully healed and maybe then he could get a terra once again.

Stardust arrived too late. She saw Renaissance walking away, and followed him, trying to catch up. Renaissance! Wait!

Renaissance stopped and turned his head to his loves sweet voice. Stardust what are you doing here? He loved her but it wasn't safe for her to be here and now he couldn't even be with her for he didn't have a home for her no more.
